The Small Things

Treasure the small things in life. It's not only true for food, but everything in our lives...

We become so caught up in our daily responsibities that we totally lose perspective on why we have those responsibilities in the first place. Ultimately, our chaotic lives blind us from our purpose and the meaningful things in life. How many times have you taken a step back from your mayhem and looked at what's happening to your life and where you're heading?...

I've just got off the phone to a good friend of mine, here in Singapore, and he was informing me of some bad news relating to a traineeship. We were on the phone for almost an hour, speaking about this. And then he asked me an important question; how have things been going for you?

It's amazing how one simple, unassuming question could hold with it so much power. It enabled me to take that essential step back from my mayhem. It was clear to me that I wasn't firing on cylinders and I needed his help. He willfully stepped in at my time of need and empowered me with his support. The difference of this small and selfless guesture is considerable. It's made all the difference for me!

The moral of this story; never forget the huge potential that the people around you have to make the differences in your lives. Yet, for them to make that difference, you have to be open and aware enough to take that step, the step out of your bubble. Only then will you be able to harness the endless power of interdependence.

...the big changes start with the small things...
